one more sleep and we are HOME!
It is 12am Beijing time which is 12pm your time... we just finished packing; it was a very big job; this has been a very big trip; lots of work and organization went into it; We were just reviewing that we have literally been preparing for this trip for over one year in shopping, setting up our home, organizing and earning.... All in all a lot of work went into making it happen.
Now it is done which could be anti climatic except: we get to bring home the best part! She is sleeping now but will be up in 6 hours (which means I will be too) so I must finish this post quickly. She has no idea what a long flight she is in for; poor kid... she definitely reacts to lack of sleep or disturbances...
Today I went touring without Mark as he was tired. Mikaela did not seem to like this at all so I had a tough day with her... We think she reacted to Mark not being there plus the suitcase packing ambiance in the air. She got overtired and had a tantrum this afternoon... it would have been funny with her little legs flailing all over but it was hard to see her so upset... she has been upset before but never like this... Since many of the couples reported the same thing we all think the kids are sensing the upcoming change and perhaps do not know what to expect next after their last big voyage (6 hour bus ride from foster/orphanage) which lead to an abandonment/loss of their primary caretaker. We are determined to provide a secure base for her when we get back to Montreal with no more constant outings but rather a stabile predictable environment to ease her attachment/bonding. In other words it is going to be very low key for awhile. This little girl has been thru a lot but she is a fighter (let me tell you).
Mark and I cannot wait to get back to our life; China was great but it is not our home... it is time to come home. So on that note; Good night and thanks for following our journey to meet our daughter... we will keep this blog going with occasional updates but alas our daily life is not so exotic.

It has been a great journey but the fun is only starting! You are homeward bound and it is going to be so great to be in our things again.
I have loved seeing everything and I hope to stay in touch once you are home.

Wow, the final day is China is here. Soon you will be back home with Mikaela and start a new life as a family of three. There will be good days and bad days ahead, however, this is all part of adjusting to a new family lifestyle.
However, regardless of the lows and highs, being a parent is so rewarding and so worth it.
You have to also keep in mind that you and Mark just gave Michaela the most amazing opportunity and that is the chance to live a life where she is valued and loved as much as any male baby. In my eyes, you two are heroes.
Ahhhh... your daily life will be plenty interesting for the next oh...20 years. She will change and grow so much each week that you'll have plenty of interesting things to blog about!
Congratulations on coming home and let the routine begin. She will thrive within it!
