Gift from God
the gang out for hot pot
Mikaela makes herself comfortable at dinner by removing her shoes and socks! So most of you know we chose Mikaela's name based on it's meaning: Gift from God. What a prophesy that was even more than we could have ever imagined. She is truly a Gift from God and tonight I am feeling very grateful. How can an 1 year old have such personality? the whole group gets broken up in laughter with her antics. She took her shoes and socks off during dinner tonight wanting to get more comfortable.(see above picture). She says no strongly when she does not want to do something and has legs like a quarterback... she is so delicious... Mark and I cannot get over her- her spicy personality adds to her charm: This part of China's babies are called Spicy babies and let me tell you she is spicy. She loves people, loves food (oh my!) and loves playing as you will see in today's pictures. She is exhausted tonight as are her parents- it is 9pm and we are all off to bed. We both caught her cold (she had one when we got her) but one cannot resist her fingers in our mouths which is a bit of a contagious thing to do.
As for China it is going great but somehow Mikaela steals the show time and time again. But it would wrong to not say it is a fascinating country and we are being treated very nicely here. It is super humid here in Chongqing and as this was our first day off from touring in about 8 days... I decided to try to do something with my hair which as you have seen looks very strange in this humidity. Walked into a hair salon and asked them how much to blow dry? A grand total of 2 dollars canadian... went for it so you will see a better hair day today and a very unusual experience at the 2 dollar hair salon; they were quite fascinated to meet a westerner and do her hair... I had 10 people grinning and staring at me... somehow however a connection was felt by all. Later we went to a Walmart to pick up some Mikaela supplies; another very interesting experience... sometimes these basic things open up more of the cultural experience than the tourist sites. I love that! Anyways enought about this day off; here is the star; Mikaela: Gift from God.
